Brentford have one of the best defences in the Championship this season.

That was the main area to bolster last summer, and they did just that - the arrivals of Pontus Jansson and David Raya in particular made Brentford tough to breach in the first-half of the season.

Here we take a look at Brentford's top-seven tacklers this season, according to WhoScored:

Probably a surprise addition to this list, because Marcondes only joined in January, and also plays as a forward. But Brentford's high-press means players like him make a lot of tackles - he's averaged 1.1 tackles per game this season.

Pinnock started the season as back up to Jansson and Julian Jeanvier, but has since become arguably the most important of the three - he's averaged 1.4 tackles per game this season.

With Jansson being injured for a big part of the season, Jeanvier has subsequently played a lot of football, and in 25 games in the Championship this season, he's averaged 1.6 tackles per game.

Henry is another name who's been prominent for Brentford this season - he's played every single Championship game so far. Making that left-back position his, he's averaged 1.8 tackles per game this season.

On the opposing flank to Henry, Dalsgaard has been equally as involved and equally as impressive - he's played all but two of Brentford's league games this season, averaging 1.8 tackles per game from right-back.

Another surprise addition to this list - Canos has been injured since October, and is an attacking midfielder too. But in the 11 league games he played earlier in the campaign, he averaged an impressive 2.5 tackles per game.

An unsung signing for Brentford this season has been Norgaard. The Dane has featured 32 times in the Championship so far, often sitting right in-front of the defence  - he averages a reputable 2.6 tackles per game for Brentford.
