Middlesbrough have recently announced former Leeds boss Garry Monk as their new manager; a shrewd appointment to say the least.

The club endured a dismal 2016/17 campaign, which eventually culminated in relegation straight back down to the Championship, however Monk is undoubtedly the man to take them up and beyond.

The former Swansea boss will have a huge task at hand however, as the Teesside outfit will be looking for nothing but promotion back up to the top flight at the first time of asking, therefore recruitment is vitally important for Boro's progress next term.

Steve Agnew has left a very decent squad at his disposal, however what is missing in the Boro squad is a clinical goalscorer, something that will not be fulfilled by Alvaro Negrado this term, with his loan deal at the Riverside coming to an end.

There is one player who Monk should definitely look to bring to the club as his first signing, and that player is Benik Afobe, who is valued at a price of £7.65million according to Transfermarkt.com.

Since arriving from Wolves in 2016, Afobe has been in and out of the AFC Bournemouth starting eleven, has made just 26 starting appearances for the Cherries, netting 10 times.

The 24-year old, however, finds himself behind the likes of Josh King and Callum Wilson in the pecking order at the Vitality Stadium.

The former Arsenal striker has been prolific in front of goal in the last few years, netting 22 times in 42 games for Wolves, whilst also scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances for MK Dons in the 2014/15 campaign.

There is no doubt that Boro are a sleeping giant with a major ambition to return to the Premier League following last year's disappointment, and Garry Monk could definitely lure the prolific forward to the Riverside Stadium in the summer.

A player like Afobe needs consistent game time, and would add much needed firepower to the Boro attack that will galvanise a promotion push.

So...what do you think Boro fans? Would Afobe be a good signing? Leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
