The £638k-rated playmaker that would boost QPR’s chances of promotion in 2017/18

After what was a disappointing season for Queens Park Rangers last term, the Loftus Road faithful will go into 2017/18 with confidence under Ian Holloway.

The R’s could only muster an 18th place finish in the second tier last season, a campaign which saw them finish just two points clear of the bottom three thanks to a run of seven defeats in their last eight games.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink began the campaign at the helm, but lost his job in November, which saw former Blackpool chief Holloway take over, but fare little better in leading them to 18th place.

Nevertheless, with a full summer transfer window to come, there is a sense of renewed optimism around Loftus Road that QPR will improve in the Championship next season, although serious reinforcements will be needed if they are to climb the table.

One player who Ian Holloway definitely needs to have a look at this summer window, is Peterborough United talisman Marcus Maddison, who is valued at a price of £638k on Transfermarkt.com.

When Peterborough transfer listed Maddison at the end of the 2016/17 campaign, it came as a shock to many, especially when you consider the fact that the playmaker netted 27 times in 109 appearances for Posh from midfield.

The 23-year old netted 9 times for Grant McCann’s men last term, as well as producing an impressive 17 assists in what was an underwhelming season yet again for the club.

Known for his set plays and crossing ability, Maddison would be a perfect asset for the R’s, who have the likes of Conor Washington and Idrissa Sylla to pounce onto deliveries in the box.

This wouldn’t be the first time that the R’s snatch a player from London Road, having signed Washington from Posh back in 2016 for a reported fee of £2.5million, and Ian Holloway could definitely get Maddison for a bargain price.

With his ability to play either as a winger, wing-back, or even in behind the striker, Maddison would be a formidable acquisition for QPR, and is definitely someone who Holloway needs to approach this summer…
