Charlton Athletic fans will be hoping that a return to training from the Addicks means that the season is going to be completed and that they have a chance to save themselves from relegation.

Of course, there is bound to be some uncertainty around the season getting finished until it actually is, thanks to the nature of the situation that we're in - but there is clearly hope things are going to get better.

Whilst we wait to see what happens, let's take a look at some of the oldest players to have played for the club - according to transfermarkt...

Paolo Di Canio is in sixth place with the former West Ham star featuring for Charlton after he left Upton Park.

A Premier League icon in many ways, he played last for the Addicks in a 2-1 win over Southampton, with him 35 years, 10 months and 6 days old.

Andy Hughes' last game for Charlton came towards the end of the 2013/14 season as the Addicks beat Watford 3-1.

He was 36 years, 3 months and 27 days old at the time.

Nicky Forster's last game was certainly entertaining back in 2010.

He was on the losing side as Charlton lost 5-4 to Swindon Town at home.

He was 36 years, 8 months and 9 days old.

Mark Bright is perhaps best known for his time with south London rivals Crystal Palace but towards the end of his career he also played for Charlton.

His last game came at the end of 98/99 in a 4-1 defeat to Everton in the top flight.

He was 36 years, 10 months and 18 days of age.

Christian Dailly is another former West Ham player to have featured for the Addicks during his career.

In 2011, he was 37 years, 5 months and 17 days old when he played in a 0-0 draw with Oldham Athletic.

It's perhaps fitting that Chris Powell is top of this list given the fondness fans have of him at the club.

He featured at the end of the 2007/08 season for the Addicks in a 4-1 win over Coventry City in the Sky Bet Championship.

He was 38 years, 7 months and 26 days old.
