Blackburn Rovers will be looking to get into the play-off places in the Sky Bet Championship with training back in the second tier starting to get back underway.

The intention appears to be to see this season out in the second division and clubs like Rovers will be hoping that they can still earn a shot at the Premier League through finishing in the top six.

Certainly, Tony Mowbray will be hoping that his players can achieve exactly that but, in the meantime, we've been looking at the club's oldest players with the help of transfermarkt.

Let's take a look at the 6 that made their list...

Craig Short comes in at sixth place in this list, with him being 36 years, 10 months and 12 days old during a 3-1 defeat to Fulham at the end of the 2004/05 Premier League season.

He was at the club for six years.

Brad Friedel was a Premier League stalwart for most of his career and racked up the appearances in the top flight.

Many of them came for Rovers though his last game for them was forgettable - a 4-1 defeat to Birmingham City in the Premier League at 36 years, 11 months and 23 days of age.

Wes Brown will be mostly remembered for his time at Manchester United where he won several trophies but in his latter years he played for the likes of Blackburn.

His last game for the club was a 2-0 defeat to Barnsley at the end of the 2016/17 season. He was mid-way through his 37th year.

Defender Kevin Moran played most of his career before the Premier League was even formed but he did get a chance to feature in it for Rovers.

In 1993/94, he played past the age of 38 as Rovers finished just behind Manchester United in the top flight - his last game was a 0-0 draw with Ipswich Town.

Mark Hughes was a hero for the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea during his prime whilst he also saw his playing career head to Ewood Park, where he'd end up manager not long after.

In 2002, he was 38 years, 6 months and 9 days old when he faced Fulham in a 3-0 win at the end of the 01/02 season.

Tugay was a hero for many Blackburn fans during his time at the club and even in his latter years he still shone in the middle of the park.

His last game came in 2009 as Rovers drew 0-0 with West Brom. He was 38 years and 9 months old exactly when he made that appearance.
