Bristol City have done a fantastic job in recent years of developing players and selling them for large amounts of profit.

Just this season, the Robins have sold Josh Brownhill and Adam Webster to Premier League clubs for some fairly sizable fees.

That's not to say that the South West outfit haven't spent a fair bit on players themselves over the years.

With that in mind, here are the six biggest transfer fees that City have forked out, according to Transfermarkt...

At number six is the aforementioned Webster. The central defender was brought in from Ipswich Town for £3.6 million ahead of the 2018/19 season as a replacement for Aden Flint.

What a signing that would prove! He was phenomenal for the Robins in his single campaign at the club, helping them to concede the fifth-fewest goals in the Championship and scooping both of City's player of the season awards.

Such were the quality of his ball skills and marauding runs forward, he earned him the nickname 'Webdini' from the Aston Gate faithful. Webster left to join Brighton for £20 million in the summer.

Another central defender, Baker joined from Aston Villa in July 2017 for £3.9 million.

An experienced centre-back with 80 Premier League and nearly 150 Championship appearances to his name, the 28-year-old has become a key figure in the defensive unit.

Injuries have hampered some of his time at the Gate but when available, he has proven himself a no-nonsense, body on the line defender and adds some steel to Johnson's backline.

The most recent addition on this list. Wells joined from Burnley in January for £4.28 million.

A proven striker with more than 100 goals in English football and history helping sides reach the Premier League, the Bermudian forward was just what City needed after the injury to Benik Afobe.

Wells already has 14 goals to his name this season (13 for QPR), hopefully, he can fire City to the play-offs and Championship promotion.

Diedhiou was signed from Ligue 1 side SCO Angers ahead of the 2017/18 season for £5.4 million.

The Senegal forward arrived with the Robins in desperate need of a frontman, with Tammy Abraham having returned to Chelsea after his successful loan deal.

He's been a fantastic servant to the club since–making 111 appearances and scoring 38 goals.

'Fammy' can sometimes be a frustrating striker to watch, missing the easy chances and scoring the tough ones, but on his day he can be unplayable.

Massengo was something of a left-field signing, arriving late in last summer's transfer window and appears to have financed by the Webster's exit.

The 18-year-old arrived from AS Monaco for £7.2 million and looks a fantastic prospect. Among the Frenchman's many strengths are his ball skills, work rate, and athletic ability.

Following some key injuries, Massengo has proven his worth in the first team already but you feel the best is yet to come.

Kalas arrived from Chelsea for £8.1 million in the summer after a really impressive season on loan with the club in 2018/19.

The Czech centre-back formed a formidable partnership with Webster last term and at 26, should be a key man in the Robins defense for years to come.

Injuries have kept him out for much of this season but he's back now and should be set to play a vital role in City's play-off push.
