One of the richest attributes of the Championship is that no one knows what's going to happen.

Many know it as the league where anything can happen, and that can't happen without players coming out of nowhere to perform fantastically for their team, and take them to places that no one would ever have expected.

Last year we saw players like Simon Francis rise out of the blue to help Bournemouth to win the league, Rudy Gestede partner Jordan Rhodes fantastically to score 20 goals and Daryl Murphy finish as the division's top scorer, aiding his Ipswich side to finish in the play-offs

Each year, it's the same, but who's performed above expectations this year? Which players have gone the extra mile and been one of their clubs players of the seasons?

Here are the FIVE players the Football League World's Charlie Firth thinks have been the surprise packages of 2015/15 so far.....

Nick Blackman - Forward - Derby County

This has probably been more at Reading than Derby, where after a £3 million January move he's been less than impressive in aiding the Rams in their promotion bid, and has now been pushed down into the reserve squad.

Many Reading fans were calling for the club to ditch Blackman over the summer after three and a half years of disappointing and inconsistent performances, that had left the fanbase deeply frustrated.

He had a fine pre-season and blitzed the first half of the year, starting the season up front before being pushed out wide to make room for Matej Vydra, but still managing to score eleven goals.

Fernando Forestieri - Striker - Sheffield Wednesday

Many clubs were interested in Forestieri, but it was the Owls who won the race capturing him for a £3 million, their 14th signing of the summer joining on a four-year-deal.

The Italian can play up front, at number ten or out wide on the left and has managed 12 goals so far this season and has been extremely impressive.

This was despite not being overly impressive for Watford during his two years at the club, but has managed to prove himself as one of the Championship's top players this year, and could lead the Owls to the Premier League.

Moussa Dembele - Striker - Fulham

Fulham striker Moussa Dembele was barely making the squad last year, only making eleven appearances for the Whites, most of which were from the bench, but look where he is now.

The Frenchman has a wealth of top clubs chasing him, including Tottenham Hotspur, AS Monaco and AS Roma.

He was actually set for a January deadline day £6 million move to Spurs, but it fell through at the last minute.

His partnership with Ross McCormack has kept Fulham out of an awful lot of trouble this season, scoring 10 goals so far this year.

Gary Hooper - Striker - Sheffield Wednesday

I know, another striker, my apologies, but Gary Hooper really has been a revelation for Wednesday this year, especially since joining the club on a permanent basis.

He's scored 10 goals so far this season, including some excellent finishes against Brentford and Birmingham City, one of the form players in the second tier this year.

This came after an average three years at Norwich City where he only scored 18 goals following a move from Celtic.

He's now beginning to show promise of becoming a Premier League striker, where Wednesday could be playing next year.

Oliver Norwood - Midfielder - Reading

norwoooood

Finally a player who doesn't play up front! Norwood was signed by Nigel Adkins at the beginning of last season and enjoyed a spectacular start to his time at the Madejski, but his form dipped at the end of the year.

He's probably been Reading's player of the season this year, partnering Danny Williams in midfield and showing his stunning array of passes, perhaps developed during his time at Manchester United.

Given how poor he was at the end of last season, it's a real surprise how fantastic Norwood has been this season.
