Things are looking up for Jos Luhukay and Sheffield Wednesday, as they prepare to host promotion rivals Middlesbrough this weekend after a short international break.

The Owls are unbeaten in their last four league games and occupy the final play-off place in the league after twelve games.

It hasn't been plain sailing for Wednesday over the last few years, and have failed to recover from their play-off final defeat to Hull City in 2015/16.

But Luhukay's men look a resurgent outfit, and will be hoping of clinching a play-off place come the end of this season, after recovering from a dismal start.

Looking back over the last few years, here, we take a look at the four most shocking moments at Sheffield Wednesday...

Last season's 4-2 defeat to Sheffield United at Hillsborough would have been a massive kick in the teeth for Owls fans.

Then managed by Carlos Carvalhal, Wednesday came back from 2-0 down as goals either side of half-time from Gary Hooper and Lucas Joao drew the Owls level, before just 60 seconds later, after Hillsborough had been in jubilation, Mark Duffy put the Blades back in front.

It was a shocking moment for Wednesday which got even worse when Leon Clarke rounded off a 4-2 victory for United, and summed up Carvalhal's tenure at Wednesday.

In light of the Owls' 4-2 defeat to United, Carvalhal's post-match press conference was perhaps one of the most bizarre press conferences you'll ever see.

The former Owls and Swansea boss took a £20 note out of his pocket, showed it to the journalists, scrunched it up and ended up hitting the table in frustration multiple times, in what was another bizarre analogy from the Portuguese boss.

It was to prove that he feels that his side still had quality and that even when taking a battering, as they did against United, they were still a good team.

Another bizarre moment was when current boss Jos Luhukay was seemingly unaware that the club were placed under a transfer embargo when he first joined the club.

Luhukay took over from Carvalhal in January, inheriting a squad plagued by long-term injuries, however, any hope of a summer overhaul was erased when the Owls were hit with an embargo in April for breaking Financial Fair Play rules.

It may have been a pre-season friendly, but nothing was friendly about the Owls' fixture with Mansfield Town at the beginning of this campaign.

A mass brawl broke out after the game involving all of the players and staff, resulting in striker Fernando Forestieri being banned for three games in the league.
