Sheffield United have impressed everyone with their start to the season, that sees them at the top of the Championship table after twelve league games, under the steady hand of manager Chris Wilder.

The Blades have won more games than anyone else in the division and look a solid outfit ready for a promotion push this season, just two years after returning to the Championship from League One.

Wilder's men will have a tough task on their hands as they prepare to travel to promotion rivals Derby County on Saturday evening, a game that the Yorkshire club will be looking to win having won their last four games.

But the Blades are a club that haven’t had it their own way over the years, with on and off the field crisis affecting life at Bramall Lane.

So here, we take a look at the four most shocking moments at Sheffield United in the last five years...

After trailing to Swindon Town by 2 goals to 1 in the first leg of the 2013/14 play-off final, many would have expected a dominant yet defensive Robins performance in the second leg as the Blades looked to cause an upset at the County Ground.

What followed next blew every football fan in the UK away.

Swindon went 3-0 up within 18 minutes, before Nigel Clough's Blades scored twice in quick succession to reduce the lead.

Goals from either team then left the score at 4-3 on the night, going into the dying embers of the game, before Swindon's Jon Obika looked to have sealed the win for Swindon - making it 5-3 in the 84th minute.

However goals from Matty Done and Che Adams then ensured it would be a nervy finish for Swindon, however Mark Cooper's men managed to hold on to secure a 7-6 win on aggregate - and a ticket to the play-off final.

I think it's fair to say that this was a shocking moment - after the Blades clinched promotion to the Championship in the 16/17 season, their first signing of the summer - on the opening day of the transfer window - was former striker Ched Evans for a reported fee of £500k.

A man who needs no introduction after his controversial past, the Welshman netted 7 times in 29 appearances for then-bottom side Chesterfield, so a return to Bramall Lane was incredibly surprising.

Evans netted 48 times in 86 starts for the Blades between 2009 and 2012, and now finds himself out on loan at Fleetwood Town where he has scored 6 goals in 10 games.

It ended up being a magnificent season for Chris Wilder's men in 2016/17 - a season in which the Blades topped the League One table with 100 points - 14 points ahead of second-placed Bolton Wanderers.

But the start that they endured to the season was absolutely horrendous to say the least -

They were winless in their first four league games, losing three games including a dismal 3-0 home defeat to Southend United in Wilder's first games as Blades manager.

All would turn out well though as the Yorkshire club would win 30 of their next 42 league games, losing just three times more.

Shocking, but in a good way - the 24th of September will stay in Blades fans' hearts for a long, long time.

Not only was it their first win over bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday since 2009, but the way in which they won the game was magnificent and enthralling.

The Blades initially led at Hillsborough through early goals from John Fleck and Leon Clarke, before goals either side of half-time from Gary Hooper and Lucas Joao drew the sides level - sparking wild scenes in Hillsborough.

The well-known chant "if you don't...bounce" came out from the whole of the Hillsborough faithful, which then turned into silence just 60 seconds later, as Mark Duffy put the Blades back in front - they then won 4-2.
