It's been a tough old season for Aston Villa, who have found themselves struggling in the Championship for large parts of the campaign.

Steve Bruce has faced his fair share of criticism having taken over from Roberto Di Matteo earlier on in the season but he seems to have ridden that wave, and his side are slowly beginning to find some form in the league.

They've won five of their past six games and you do wonder had they begun showing this sort of form at the start of the campaign, whether they'd have been in with more of a shot for the play-off places.

But sadly, that chance looks to have been and gone and attention now turns to next season, where Villa are under some serious pressure to achieve promotion at the second attempt.

And one man in this side who will hope to have more of an impact next season is £4.25million-rated Jack Grealish, who has underwhelmed the large majority of Villa fans this season with some below-par performances.

Arguably one of the brightest sparks to have come out of the Villa academy in years, Grealish has skill, pace and a real directness on the flank which at times, has bode his side extremely well indeed.

But in most of his showings this season, he's struggled to create chances, despite often turning out and doing well for the England U21 side.

It's a strange tale of a player that just looks a little jaded amongst this current Villa crop.

His potential is overwhelming and there is real hope that in time, he can go on and become a massive player at the club.

But as he gets that little bit older, he'll be expected to perform at a senior level week-in, week-out or face completely falling out of favour at the club.

The time to shine needs to come sooner rather than later or Grealish could face a demise that sees him tumble away from the national spotlight.
