Leeds have had a rough decade or so that has seen them go through a number of tragic managerial appointments.

Massimo Cellino’s ownership oversaw failed appointment after appointment.

The reasons for this aren’t solely down to the owners, however, there have been some pretty dreadful men in the dugout.

Cellino often didn’t grant managers what they wanted and the norm tended to be for the manager to leave after less than a season – sometimes they were sacked due to on the pitch failures, other times differing factors were the reason.

Things seem on the up for Leeds now, however, with Marcelo Bielsa.

Despite this, the Argentinian coach is actually known in part for his tendency to go from job to job. He had short stints at Lille and Lazio recently, where he decided that he must leave in a rather abrupt fashion.

Here, we look at the THREE worst managers in Leeds’ history – there was a lot to choose from, but a few of the Cellino era were hard to overlook. Let’s see who we’ve picked…

Dave Hockaday hadn’t managed at a higher level than non-league before joining Leeds.

He took the reigns from Brian McDermott, but was awful.

Hockaday lasted just six games before he was axed.

Darko Milanic also lasted – you guessed it – six games. He was a lot more trusted as a coach than his predecessor Hockaday, but still couldn’t cut it.

Milanic drew three and lost three before being sacked 32 days into his reign at Elland Road.

Going back to the 1970s, Clough arrived following Don Revie's appointment as England manager.

Clough was a talented coach, who did well with Derby before arriving at Elland Road for a disappointing stint as manager.

He went on to win the European Cup with Nottingham Forest, but his spell in Leeds was famously a disaster.
