Aston Villa are traditionally one of the bigger clubs in English footballing history, however, they are seemingly stuck in the second tier now.

The Villans won the European Cup in 1982 and have won several League and FA Cup titles along the way in their illustrious history.

If you walk around Villa Park, you will see legendary managers that have defined generations of the club, such as Tony Barton, Graham Taylor and George Ramsey.

Sadly, those days are gone, and Villa have to put up with managers that aren’t as fancy as those that guided them to European and English triumphs back in the day.

In the last few years, the club has dramatically fallen from the top table of English football to the Championship, and most of that is thanks to the terrible managerial decisions made by those at the top of the club.

Here, we look at the worst THREE managers in Villa’s history.

Alex McLeish joined the club despite previously managing Birmingham City, so you can imagine the reception he got.

The Scotsman did win over the fans a little, but overall his time was one to forget and it ended ugly.

Ultimately it was an appointment that was a disaster waiting to happen.

Remi Garde was appointed Villa boss in November 2015 and was probably the worst coach in recent Villa history.

The Frenchman managed just two wins during his tenure at Villa Park and he was sacked just months into his three-and-a-half year deal.

Roberto Di Matteo was a coach with a growing reputation after achieving promotion with West Brom and then stunningly winning the Champions League and FA Cup at Chelsea, but his time at Villa was truly wretched.

Di Matteo lasted just 12 games at Villa Park, where he won just once on the club's return to the second tier.
