Bristol City had an excellent campaign in the 2014/15 season winning League One comfortably and the Johnstones Paint Trophy.

At the beginning of the 15/16 season Bristol City spent £2 million on French striker Jonathan Kodjia and some shrewd loan signings.

But Bristol City only won four more games in 2015 including very good victories over Middlesbrough and Wolves but overall it was a terrible start, and Bristol City lingered in the relegation zone leading to the sacking of Cotterill in mid January.

He was sacked and replaced by Barnsley manager Lee Johnson who began his reign with 6 wins in his first 9 games, including wins over Nottingham Forest and a 6-0 win over Bolton.

Their best player was striker Jonathan Kodjia who scored an outstanding 20 goals, but other top performing players for Derby were loan star Lee Tomlin and Aden Flint.

Here are the THREE most underrated players for Bristol City....

Korey Smith

Korey Smith

The midfielder was alongside Marlon Pack for much of last season and was solid throughout, before getting injured in the run in.

He has been solid ever since he moved from Oldham, anchoring the midfield in the 14/15 season where Bristol City won League 1 and the Johnstones Paint Trophy.

He is yet to score a goal for the club but protects the defence excellently and will be needed next year alongside pack.

Fans will hope Smith's injury will put off potential buyers as they certainly appreciate him, nominating him for Player of the Year.

Joe Bryan

Bryan is one of the best young players in the league and is versatile enough to play in a variety of positions like left back and central midfield.

He has played 40 games this season and scored twice including a wonder goal against Middlesbrough, which gave Bristol City an impressive 1-0 win there.

At just 22 he has been linked to the Premier League and a possible England future, and has been awarded at Bristol City with the Young Player of the Year award two seasons running.

Aaron Wilbraham

One of the unsung heroes for the Robins this season was experienced Englishman Aaron Wilbraham, with the 36 year old scoring 8 goals last season, helping Kodjia out who was no doubt the star man for them.

Kodjia scored 20 goals for his £2 million pound fee being lauded as excellent value for money, but Wilbraham proved that he can still do it at this level by helping him out.

Bristol City will need to strengthen their striking division however especially if they lose Kodjia.
