Bristol City had an excellent campaign in the 2014/15 season winning League One comfortably and the Johnstones Paint Trophy.
At the beginning of the 15/16 season Bristol City spent £2 million on French striker Jonathan Kodjia and some shrewd loan signings.
But Bristol City only won four more games in 2015 including very good victories over Middlesbrough and Wolves but overall it was a terrible start, and Bristol City lingered in the relegation zone leading to the sacking of Cotterill in mid January.
He was sacked and replaced by Barnsley manager Lee Johnson who began his reign with 6 wins in his first 9 games, including wins over Nottingham Forest and a 6-0 win over Bolton.
Their best player was striker Jonathan Kodjia who scored an outstanding 20 goals, but other top performing players for Derby were loan star Lee Tomlin and Aden Flint.
