Ipswich Town picked up a vital win over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, coming away from Hillsborough as 2-1 winners.

A Luke Chambers header four minutes from time sent the away end into raptures after Gary Hooper had replied for Wednesday.

Chambers, skipper and eventual matchwinner went on to praise the “togetherness” of the Wednesday squad following the win in Sheffield and it was result that takes Mick McCarthy’s side to 21 points in the table.

It was a good result after the slightly disappointing draw with Rotherham United last weekend and there were plenty of positives to take back to Portman Road.

And after the win, we want to take a look at the big players that allowed Ipswich to take all three points.

So with that in mind, here’s three key players as Ipswich Town beat Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough…

Luke Chambers

Captain and leader Luke Chambers had a real afternoon to remember in Yorkshire as his side overcame the Owls at Hillsborough.

In a display full of heart and courage, Chambers really led from the back and popped up with a crucial matchwinner just four minutes from time.

His performance on Saturday will give Mick McCarthy real encouragement going forward and the hope his side can continue to climb the table.

Jonny Williams

Jonny Williams continues to justify the continued decision to bring him back to Portman Road and he was a real threat all afternoon against Carlos Carvalhal’s Wednesday.

He’s a pacy, skillful customer who brings real quality to the Ipswich forward line and his ability to create chances will be crucial in any Tractor Boy success this campaign.

Adam Reach

Former Middlesbrough man Adam Reach continues to be an attacking threat in the Wednesday forward line.

The Owls paid big money to bring him to Hillsborough this summer and he’s settled in well, filling in at left-back and on the wing too.

He has bags of pace and loves to run at defenders, and we saw him race past Ipswich defenders on a couple of occasions on Saturday afternoon.

This is result should be seen as more of an annoyance rather than anything to truly worry about for Wednesday.
