After only staying up on the final day of last season, Birmingham City will hope to be battling at the other end of the table now that Garry Monk will have a full-season in charge.

The former Leeds boss improved Blues significantly in terms of both results and performances after taking over in March and will be targeting a top 10 finish next season.

And, he has already made some moves in the market, securing left-back Kristian Pedersen from Union Berlin to solve a problem position.

However, there is still a lot of work to be done to the squad and the financial situation at St. Andrew's is still not clear.

Here we look at three potential flaws that Monk must address to ensure they have the best possible campaign next season...

Whether it's for financial reasons or form, Brimingham are keen on getting rid of David Stockdale and backup stopper Tomasz Kuszczak too.

Obviously, that will leave them on the lookout for a new number one but Monk can't afford to take a risk in such a critical position.

They need a proven player and they aren't always easy to find.

Another major issue that has to be looked at is bringing in a goalscorer.

Quite simply, there is no one good enough in the squad currently and it's another critical position.

Monk likes a striker that can play with his back to goal but he needs someone who is clinical when given a chance too.

When Jonathan Grounds was injured towards the end of last season, Monk was forced to put Maxime Colin to left-back and bring in a kid.

Whilst Wes Harding did well, it highlights the lack of depth in this Blues squad. And there are similar issues all over the pitch.

This squad lacks depth and they need numbers as well as quality through the door this summer.
