It's fair to say every team in the country, or even continent, has made some shocking signings during their history.

Whether that be surprising the odds by bringing a player of high stature, having an absolute bargain or paid way too much for someone who turned out to be a flop.

After spending nearly half an hour in forums and threads, I have realised Queens Park rangers really have made some shocking signings during their existence and probably far too many for it to even surprise many supporters of the west London club nowadays.

Some QPR players who miss out on this list only just did but are justified to be.

One name which did pop up in my mind was Loic Remy, being one of the most prolific strikers in France before arriving at Loftus Road when the club were spending big but still battling to survive relegation to the Championship.

Shaun Wright-Phillips was another one. Having spent time at Chelsea and Manchester City earlier in his career, high things were expected of him but shockingly didn't deliver. Once again, he's only just missed out on this list.

Anyway, here are THREE of the biggest shock QPR signings of all-time....

Julio Cesar

Julio Cesar

It's not often an English fan can claim one of the world's best goalkeepers played in this country, but that was the case in 2012 when QPR completed the signing of Julio Cesar from Italian giants Inter Milan.

The Brazilian was once in his day considered to be one of the best 'keepers in the world during his prime, but moved to Loftus Road when Queens Park Rangers were in a battle to stay in the Premier League.

Cesar was unable to keep the goals out of the net and as a result the club suffered relegation to the Championship.

He was frozen out of the squad and was forced to go out on loan to Major League Soccer side Toronto before permanently signing for Benfica in Portugal in 2014.

Julio Cesar was a shock to most when the club announced he was a QPR player, but what was rather more shocking was that he struggled to live up to his name.

Ned Zelic

The Australian international joined Queens Park Rangers in 1995 and came with a high reputation.

Zelic was bought by manager Ray Wilkins in the summer of that year, and broke the club's record transfer fee paid as he arrived at Loftus Road for £1.25 million.

Zelic had won the Bundesliga (Germany's top division) with Borussia Dortmund at the end of the 1994/95 season and because of that supporters thought he would be the main player in the squad, that person which the team would be built around, however it didn't quite work out that way.

Ray Wilkins signed Ned Zelic because of his versatility, he was able to play as a centre midfielder but also at the back.

He was plagued with injuries and the player blamed that down to the pitches in this country.

Zelic would eventually only make eleven appearances for QPR and that would come to a cost of £115,000 per game.

He left the following year to make a return to Germany and that would be his only time he spent in England as a player, was with Queens Park Rangers.

Mark Hateley

Another one for the older fans, Mark Hateley enjoyed a one-and-a-half year spell at Loftus Road between November 1995 and '97.

He moved to QPR after spending five years with Rangers in Scotland, making 165 appearances for them before a £1.5 million deal which took Hately to west London.

The centre forward was signed by Ray Wilkins with a rather prolific conversion rate, scoring at least one every other match.

Although during Mark Hateley's time at Queens Park Rangers, he only played in 27 games and hit the net on just three occasions, which also included a short spell at Leeds United.

As a result, the former England international with 32 caps moved back to Scottish club Rangers for a fee of £300,000 in early 1997.

The signing was a shock but turned out to be a flop at Loftus Road.
