After a rip-roaring start under somewhat unknown manager Walter Zenga, it's safe to say Wolves' Championship campaign has finally begun to slow down.

A 4-0 home defeat to surprise-package Barnsley on Tuesday evening didn't fill supporters with the hope that this could be their year to challenge for the promotion places, even after such a promising start.

It's safe to say that Zenga still needs time to get things right on the pitch. His foreign signings will need time to bed in and generally things will just become more fluent over time as the manager himself gets used to his surroundings.

But football is a cut-throat business these days and Zenga won't have forever to get things right. But there have been some examples of things going very well at Molineux in recent times so we want to have a look at some of their more recent successes.

Here, in the opinion of FLW writer Hayden Atkins, are THREE of the best things Wolves have done in the past five years....

Getting new owners

Whether you liked them or not, the entire Wolves fan-base seemed to be divided or against former Chief Executive Jez Moxey.

Alongside former chairman Steve Morgan, they seemed to rub everyone up the wrong way with the way money was being spent, the constant need to change managers and inability to hold onto some of their best players.

But new Chinese investors Fosun have started strongly, investing real money in the side in their first few weeks at the helm. It’s a promising start.

Wolves now seem more tactically stable

Tuesday evening’s 4-0 defeat to Barnsley may have truly shocked some Wolves fans but results like that happen and it’s how you deal with them that matters most.

The Tykes are dominating most of their league games and Wolves simply folded in the last twenty minutes, allowing them to dispatch four.

But in moments in all of their Championship games so far, we’ve seen a side that look tactically aware for the first time in years. Former manager Kenny Jackett lost the faith of the supporters after struggling to convince them with his football and as outlandish as he is, Zenga looks switched on.

If they can turn it around, this could become a blossoming relationship.

The golden Premier League years

The 2010-2011 season saw Wolves avoid Premier League relegation by the skin of their teeth but supporters wouldn’t’ have cared- they had one of the best campaigns in their history.

Post-Christmas wins over Chelsea, Manchester United, Blackpool, Villa and West Brom confirmed their safety and these are games that will long live in the memory of the Gold and Black faithful.

It’s been a tough ride since these fine results but that Premier League season must go down as one of the best in their history.
