Aston Villa face an uncertain summer ahead due to their current financial troubles.

The financial crisis at the club has already had a major impact on the club's summer transfer plans, preventing them from signing loan stars Robert Snodgrass and Sam Johnstone, as well as leading to the departure of veteran defender John Terry.

With out-of-contract defender Alan Hutton having his new deal talks shelved and a number of players being put up for sale to raise some much-needed cash, Villa's team could look very different next season.

Unless they make a lot of money from sales, the majority of the Villan's summer spending will be limited to free transfers, loan deals and bargains.

They will need a number of cheap players to pad out the squad if there are a lot of departures.

So, as well as loan swoops and free agents, here are three bargain purchases that Aston Villa should look to secure.

Manchester United goalkeeper Henderson is out of contract this summer and Aston Villa should desperately try to land him for a small compensation fee of around £1m as a suitable replacement Johnstone, who has starred at Villa for the last 18 months on loan.

Goalkeeper is a priority for the Villans and the 21-year-old impressed in League One last term, keeping 19 clean sheets and earning a spot in the PFA League One Team of the Year.

Sheffield Wednesday are stalling on wrapping up a permanent deal for Venancio after the Portuguese centre-back impressed on loan at Hillsborough last term.

The Owls have first refusal on the 25-year-old, who is reportedly available for a bargain £800k, and he would be the perfect long-term partner for James Chester at the back for Villa.

If Aston Villa sell Jonathan Kodjia, they will be able to fund a cut-price move for out-of-contract Swansea City striker McBurnie, who is available for a compensation fee.

The 22-year-old Scotland international's record of nine goals in 16 starts for struggling Barnsley last season showed that he can be the prolific goal scorer Villa need in the Championship.
