There's a huge season on the horizon for Sheffield Wednesday and manager Carlos Carvalhal, who will have big plans for the campaign ahead.

The Owls were pipped to the post during the play-off semi-finals last season but there's genuine thought that this is a team that is good enough to compete towards the top of the table again next time out.

There are some huge players on the wage bill at Hillsborough these days and it's a squad that needs to start stepping up if they're to continue pushing for a place in the Premier League.

And one man in particular that we think has a particularly important season ahead of him is £3.8 million-rated winger Adam Reach.

The former Middlesbrough man moved to Yorkshire in a big-money move last season and he was a player that had huge expectations placed on his shoulders.

But moving forward, he's a man that needs to start stepping onto the forefront of the pitch if he's to start justifying that £5 million price tag.

He played 42 times last season and scored just three times, assisting on four occasions. As we saw at times during his spell at the Riverside, he's a man who has blistering pace in his locker that can really make an impact when given the ball.

But on far too many occasions he didn't make enough of an impact when he was given the chance and despite playing large spells of the campaign in at left-back, he wasn't as good as he probably should have been.

Wednesday fell to eventual play-off champions Huddersfield in the play-offs but on paper, they had a squad that was more than good enough to do the business.

Players like Reach need to really step up moving forward or risk facing the axe in the near future.

Big money was paid for his services, and he needs to start delivering.
