Mansfield Town are the favourites to lift the Sky Bet League Two title in 2017/18, following a swarm of new summer signings.

Former Leeds boss Steve Evans has been extremely busy thus far this pre-season, with 13 new players coming through the doors at the One Call Stadium, ensuring that the Stags squad is well prepared for next season.

This season looks incredibly likely to be Evans' tenth career promotion, having already completed some tremendous acquisitions for League Two level, the likes of Zander Diamond, Lee Angol and Paul Anderson all arriving from League One clubs.

With the club still in the hunt for yet another striker, in order to round off a magnificent close season recruitment-wise, one player who Evans must look to bring in is Hartlepool United's Padraig Amond, who is valued at a price of £255k on Transfermarkt.com.

The Irishman has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Victoria Park, following United's relegation from the Football League on the final day of the 2016/17 campaign.

Personally, it must have been a somewhat pleasing campaign for the 29-year old, who scored a total of 14 goals in what was an extremely struggling Hartlepool side, and he must feel like he deserves the chance to play in League Two again next season.

Amond arrived at Victoria Park in good stead, having scored 33 goals in 46 games for Grimsby Town in their promotion to League Two in 2015/16, and it's this prolific goalscoring form that may up his price tag even more.

A key figure for the Monkey Hangers, Craig Harrison may demand a hefty fee from the Stags, having already lost talismen Nathan Thomas and Lewis Alessandra to Sheffield United and Notts County respectively.

But Mansfield's ambition and desire to get out of League Two next season has been evident in the last few weeks, and can definitely lure Padraig Amond to the One Call Stadium this summer.

So...what do you think Mansfield fans? Would Padraig Amond be a good signing for the Stags? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
