Coventry City suffered a very disappointing season last year and were relegated to the fourth tier of English football.

Less than twenty years ago, Coventry were an established Premier League side but the downward spiral has been almost uncontrollable since.

Next year, under the guidance of Mark Robins, Coventry will hope to stop the downward rot and win promotion back to League One.

The Sky Blues have already been very busy in the summer transfer window, bringing in six players and getting a handful of out-of-contract stars to pen new deals.

However, they have lost vital midfielder Gael Bigirimana to Motherwell and two key players still haven’t committed their futures to the Ricoh Arena.

One of those is George Thomas and the other is left back Ryan Haynes.

If Haynes leaves and joins another club, Coventry will need to sign a new left back because they would be left with just Chris Stokes on their books.

While Stokes is a good player, he has struggled with injuries and fitness over the past season and a half.

The search for a new left back should lead Mark Robins to Adam Chicksen.

Recently released by Charlton Athletic, the reliable performer is available on a free transfer.

Chicksen is able to contribute with attacking and defensive qualities which makes him the perfect modern day full back.

The former MK Dons and Brighton man has plenty of experience and would be a solid addition for Coventry.

The Sky Blues should be offering the 25-year-old a two year deal.
