Sheffield Wednesday may have recorded three successive victories but it can’t hide what has been a poor season for the Owls.

Jos Luhukay’s men have eased any slight fears about relegation with their recent form so the focus is now entirely on building for next season.

The former Gladbach boss is likely to oversee a major squad overhaul, with several key decisions to be made on the future of certain players.

One is Atdhe Nuhiu who has performed superbly in recent weeks with his contract running out, but there are still doubts as to whether he will be at Hillsborough next season.

Many will wonder why he has managed to hit a purple patch just as his contract is up, whilst Luhukay may not be able to guarantee him the game time he will want for next season.

If he does depart, the Owls need to target Jack Marriott as his replacement.

As our graphic shows, the 23-year old striker has been in superb form for Peterborough this season with 25 goals in the league, comfortably the most in the third tier.

Importantly, he will have the hunger and determination to prove himself at a bigger club and higher level should he move to Wednesday and he is a player that should only improve.

With a shot conversion of 22% it proves that Marriott is getting a lot of chances as well, as opposed to just enjoying a fluke season. A key reason for that is his excellent movement that stretches defences and makes him hard to mark.

There could be big changes at Wednesday in the summer and signing Marriott could signal a new approach for the club that is the way to go.
