Nottingham Forest narrowly stayed afloat in the Championship but fans will be optimistic that things will improve next season.

Mark Warburton will be in charge for the start of the new season and he will have a full summer of recruitment to put his personal stamp on the squad.

By this side will be his former Director of Football at Rangers - Frank McParland - who is renowned for shrewd signings.

As well as this, controversial owner Fawaz Al Hasawi is on the verge of selling the club to Greek business tycoon Evangelos Marinakis.

While Warburton will want to limit most of his business to the domestic market, Marinakis might recommend some top Greek players for Nottingham Forest to look at it.

It's a risky ploy, considering the lack of impact that Apostolos Vellios had in the Championship this season.

However, there is one player who might need to be scouted because he looks like a seriously talented young man.

Giorgos Giakoumakis is lighting up the Greek Super League with his scintillating displays up front for Platanias.

The 22-year-old is the fifth top scorer in the Greek Super League and the highest Greek goal scorer this season.

The Greece under-21 international has struck 11 goals in 26 games for Platanias despite his young age to lift his side to seventh place.

Giakoumakis is far from the finished article but he is certainly an exciting prospect that Nottingham Forest should be scouting ahead of a possible move.

Perhaps Evangelos Marinakis will recommend the Greek starlet to the club if he does complete his takeover.
