Joe Aribo has been in sensational form recently, smashing four goals in as many games to put Charlton on course for play-off success.

They climbed through the automatic promotion chasers and ended the season in third, just shy of Barnsley and Luton. They were the form side in the division, due in no small part to their home-grown midfielder.

Aribo bagged three in three at the end of the normal season, then added another this weekend as the Addicks beat Doncaster 2-1 to put one foot in the play-off final. Having won eight of their last nine matches, they’re the favourites to move up into the Championship at the end of the season.

Aribo has been a driving force behind their success this campaign, an industrious box-to-box midfielder with a terrific engine and endless endeavour.

He’s composed on the ball, almost too confident and his performances have ensured he’s never far away from the watchful eye of scouts. He’s been tipped with a move to Germany and his recent form will only push his earning potential up a little higher.

Charlton will likely reap the rewards in the short term, but even a Championship promotion is unlikely to keep Aribo at the Valley. As he keeps scoring, he’s sure to have one eye on his mobile phone, seeing what offers his agent has been able to conjure up for him this summer.

That’s no disrespect to Charlton and as Aribo has showed, he’s focused on the field and helping them to achieve great things, but he’s at the pinnacle of his career so far. He’s young enough to be a prospect, experienced enough not to be a risk and his recent outings have shown he’s got the attributes to play higher.

Pushing Charlton out of League One is his immediate concern, but Joe Aribo will surely be assessing all his options this summer, with a big move looking increasingly likely. Few could blame him after the season he’s had and when the curtain finally comes down, this exciting young talent will finally get the move his performances deserve.
