Stoke City have had a 2018 to forget and will be hoping to put it behind them moving forward into the New Year.

The Potters were relegated from the Premier League after a decade long stay in the top flight.

The club established themselves as a solid Premier League side for the first time in their history and the relegation came as a shock for many supporters.

Since then, the club replaced Mark Hughes with Gary Rowett and were expected to make an instant return to the top division.

It hasn’t quite worked out for them, however, with Stoke languishing in mid table entering the New Year.

As favourites going into the season to be promoted, Stoke will have expected a good start, but it wasn’t to be.

Stoke were played off the park by Leeds in what was a memorable day for Bielsa’s Whites, but a forgetful day for Rowett’s Potters.

Relegation was a very forgetful moment for Stoke fans, who struggled to contain their disappointment at the bet365 stadium.

The club had toyed with relegation for a couple of seasons prior to that, but last season was horrific for them.

The 3-0 Wigan defeat of this season was a particular low for Stoke City fans.

It wasn’t far into the season, and Stoke still had time to adjust into a solid Championship side, but it wasn’t to be, and Stoke were embarrassed by Wigan.
