Norwich City have had a bitterly disappointing season by their own admission.

After sitting top of the pile in mid-October, they suffered a catastrophic nosedive and have struggled for consistency since.

Despite having a decent core in their squad, Norwich City have failed this season and will be hoping for better next term.

Whoever their new manager is, they need to utilise James Maddison more.

After some incredible performances in a number 10 role for Coventry City in League One, Norwich snapped him up on deadline day in January 2016 with Maddison heading straight back to Coventry on loan.

Tipped as the next Dele Alli, it has been a frustrating season for the talented youngster.

The technically gifted attacking midfielder spent the first half of the season at Aberdeen and impressed, including scoring a spectacular free kick against Rangers.

There is no questioning the 20-year-old's ability but he needs to beef up over the summer to stake his claim for a senior spot next year.

Often brushed aside as lightweight, Maddison has proved on a number of occasions that he can ride the tackles, even when he is targeted.

He will be hoping for a similar rise to Jacob Murphy's.

The pair were team mates at Coventry and Murphy has enjoyed a prolific season in the first team.

Maddison needs to be given similar chances as he can replicate that success if he lives up to his potential.

The Coventry academy product scored on his league debut a couple of weeks ago but has only played 2 minutes since then.

Maddison needs to be given an extended run in the team next year and he could produce the results.
