It's been a mixed season down at Loftus Road for Queens Park Rangers, who have struggled through large parts of the Championship campaign, even under the guidance of Football League veteran Ian Holloway.

Returning for his second spell at the club, Holloway had originally guided his side to some decent results but form has slipped in recent weeks and it looks to be a season of lower-mid table security for the Hoops.

But looking ahead to next season and the summer, there should be real optimism in West London that the Hoops could build a very realistic play-off run, if the right players are brought in over the summer months.

They need quality that isn't going to break the bank- which everyone knows at this level is hard to find.

But in Ian Holloway, they have a manager who knows what to bring to the table and a man that is more than capable of finding out the bargains when needs be too.

So with that in mind, here' the two signings that could make or break QPR's 2017-2018 season...

Maikel Kieftenbeld

You get the impression that at times, the Hoops have been missing a truly defensive midfielder that can really hold the shape together in the heart of the pitch.

And one man that has been doing that fantastically over the past couple of years is Birmingham's Maikel Kieftenbeld, who's future is in a little doubt following the managerial changes we've seen at St Andrews over the past couple of months.

The former Groningen man is a real bone-cruncher who knows how to get stuck in. He could prove to be the missing link.

Gary Hooper

It's been a tough couple of months for Sheffield Wednesday forward Gary Hooper, who's time at Hillsborough looks to be coming to an end after a disappointing season which has seen him in and out of the first-team.

He needs a new start and as we know from his time with Celtic, he's a man that when in form, has goals to burn.

Holloway really knows how to get the best out of his players and Hooper could be a cracking addition to the squad.
