For a moment at the beginning of the season, it looked as though perhaps the entire Queens Park Rangers squad was destined for League One.

They endured a terrible start to the season, epitomised by the 7-1 thrashing at the hands of West Brom. It seemed unlikely they'd find a way out of their sticky start, but they have.

They're not out of the woods, not by a long shot, but the team have progressed under Steve McClaren and now look capable of holding their head above water.

There's still lots of work to do though and one or two of their players do not look fit for a Championship fight.

Here are two of the current QPR squad who look destined to find themselves in League One in January.

Three minutes here, fifteen minutes there; that seems to be the total of Matt Smith's contribution to QPR's season at the moment. Even more ominously, he only seems to be getting a run out in the EFL Cup.

He's a big unit and at 29 he still has a bit to offer, but if you can't break into a lower Championship side's first team, there's only one place you're heading.

Being told he can leave in January doesn't help.

For Oteh a League One move isn't a bad thing, but he is one who is sure to be looking for a loan spell away from Loftus Road in the winter.

He's a young player who is on the cusp of breaking through and like Ebere Eze before him, a run of games in a lower division should help.

Anyone who has seen Eze's development will surely been keen on giving Oteh a chance in January.
