Paul Heckingbottom’s start to Elland Road has been far from convincing, with Leeds United continuing to struggle in the Sky Bet Championship in 2018.

Leeds have recorded just one victory in the calendar year, slipping to 14th in the Championship table ahead of the run-in, with their play-off push left in tatters.

Prior to the international break Leeds found themselves struggling, having lost three from four, including a Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday.

Wednesday ran out 2-1 winners at Elland Road, with Leeds really disappointing in difficult conditions.

Heckingbottom’s side return this weekend against Bolton Wanderers, who make the trip to Elland Road tomorrow afternoon.

With Leeds looking for just their second victory of 2018, Heckingbottom will be expected to tinker with his starting XI once again, as the 40-year-old looks to turn things around.

Here at FLW, we take a look at Heckingbottom’s previous starting XI and identify TWO players in danger of dropping out…

Ekuban has been guilty of missing chances in previous weeks, as the 24-year-old’s wait for a first Championship goal continues.

Leeds needed Ekuban to take one of the early chances that fell to him against Sheffield Wednesday, which would’ve put Leeds in complete control.

With Pierre-Michel Lasogga pushing for a recall and Sam Dalby impressing in the under-23s, Ekuban could be axed.

Neither Pennington nor Liam Cooper have been particularly impressive this season, but the latter is returning from injury, which could mean Heckingbottom changes his centre-back pairing once again.

Pennington was at fault against Sheffield Wednesday, which could work against him when Heckingbottom makes his selection ahead of tomorrow.
