Leeds United’s season has proven to have ridden the usual rollercoaster that has engulfed the club since their relegation from the Premier League, with the Whites looking increasingly unlikely to secure a play-off finish this season.

Former boss Thomas Christiansen appeared to be the man to end their top flight exodus following an excellent start to life at Elland Road, but was eventually given the boot following a poor run of form, and replaced with Paul Heckingbottom.

The former Barnsley boss has it all to do if he is to turn Leeds’ fortunes around, and winless in his first few, looks set for another year of second tier football.

A huge summer clearout is needed before this squad is ready for promotion, with these two surely the first to go…

The experienced goalkeeper almost left the club in January, but turned down an offer from relegation threatened Sunderland following talks with Chris Coleman’s side.

The 34-year-old was presented with an opportunity to impress when fellow stopper Felix Wiedwald hit a poor run of form, but mistake after mistake saw him replaced by the German once more.

Lonergan’s time at the club is without a doubt running to an end, and he should be one of the first names out of the door in the summer when Heckingbottom begins to wield the axe.

One of Christiansen’s many transfer failings, Cibicki doesn’t look like he has a chance to get anywhere near the starting eleven at Elland Road.

The switch to England just hasn’t quite worked out for the Swede, and unless he begins to show his new boss what he is all about between now and the end of the season, I can see him being moved on in the summer.

Cibicki needs something that will prompt a revival in his career, whether that be a loan move or a permanent switch away from the club, and with Heckingbottom certain to bring in new faces and his own men in the summer, Cibicki should certainly be wary of the chop.
