Middlesbrough are set for an extremely busy end to the window after a flurry of late deals has left their squad looking short in key areas.

Key centre-back Ben Gibson completed a move to Burnley, whilst Adama Traore has signed for Wolves, with the pair following Patrick Bamford out the door after he moved to Leeds United.

That means Tony Pulis should be able to secure some big deals but time is running out and he needs to add real quality to replace three very good players.

With four points from their opening two games, Boro have shown they have a good base to build on and Pulis is a manager that knows exactly what he wants and how to get out this league.

So, with the right additions the Teesside outfit could easily be competing for automatic promotion next May.

And, here we look at two deals the experienced boss needs to get over the line before the deadline...

Replacing Traore is going to be extremely tough for Boro but Bolasie would be a great signing and he is someone they've been linked with.

He hasn't been the same player since suffering a terrible knee injury but he should still be more than good enough for the Championship.

With power, pace and skill he would be a major coup for Boro and provide them with the flair and creativity they are now lacking. Pulis knowing the player from his Crystal Palace days could be a big advantage too.

We all know the way that Pulis sets his team up to play and you have to think Hugill would flourish in that set up.

The target man is excellent at bringing others into play and scores goals, whilst he is another linked with a move to the Riverside.

With Bamford gone, a new number nine is needed and he could be the ideal focal point for this new-look Boro team as West Ham will be willing to sell.
