Marcelo Bielsa will have been pleased with Leeds United’s start to the season, with the Whites currently sitting in a strong position in the race for automatic promotion.

Leeds are playing a good brand of football under Bielsa, whose intense style of play has helped the Whites take the Championship by storm.

A heavy 4-1 defeat to West Brom prior to this week’s international break was a bit of a wake-up call, but it’s hard to imagine Bielsa will be reading too much into the result or performance.

It’s been a select group of players to help Bielsa’s side into this strong position, and although the performance at the Hawthorns was poor, it is likely to be the same personnel taking Leeds forward.

However, there are players on the fringe who will be hoping they can have a big impact later in the season, with the fixture list set to intensify.

Here, we take a look at TWO that will be looking to step up in 2019…

Clarke has had a couple of impressive cameo appearances from the bench this season, with many hoping to see the winger establish himself as a first-team regular in the near future.

The youngster has a direct style, which is appreciated by the Elland Road faithful, with Clarke bringing something that Leeds’ other wingers don’t.

There’s every chance he will have a big role to play later this season.

Bamford is currently sidelined through injury, with his return likely to come in 2019.

Prior to his injury, Bamford was firmly behind Kemar Roofe in the pecking order, with that likely to be the case even when he’s fit again.

However, Bamford could still have a huge impact during the second-half of the season.
