Birmingham City will be looking to get their season back on track this weekend when they head to the Madejski Stadium tomorrow to face Reading in the Championship.

Having failed to win any of their last five league games, the Blues have drifted away from the play-off picture in the second-tier and currently find themselves in 15th place.

Given that Birmingham face a hectic schedule over the Christmas period, a victory on Saturday could potentially provide them with some much-needed momentum.

Whilst the Blues were not exactly poor in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Millwall, a lack of attacking creativity ultimately forced Pep Clotet's side to settle for a point.

Having been handed over the reins at St Andrew's on a permanent basis earlier this week, the Spaniard will be determined to lead his side to a positive result this weekend.

Here, we take a look at TWO dilemmas that Clotet is facing ahead of Birmingham's clash with Reading...

A mini-crisis at centre-back

With Marc Roberts set to miss tomorrow's showdown with Reading having suffered ankle ligament damage last weekend, Clotet is facing a mini-crisis in terms of who to start at centre-back.

Whilst Jake Clarke-Salter is expected to keep his place in Birmingham's side after a number of impressive performances, Harlee Dean's displays this season have been far from convincing.

Yet given that Geraldo Bajrami and Wes Harding are both relatively inexperienced when it comes to playing at Championship level, Clotet may have to turn to Dean for inspiration against the Royals.

Potential changes needed up-front

Having failed to adequately replace Che Adams' firepower in the summer transfer window following the forward's decision to join Southampton, it is hardly surprising that Birmingham have only managed to score 19 goals in the Championship this season.

Whilst Lukas Jutkiewicz has struggled for consistency in the second-tier, Alvaro Gimenez has yet to fully adapt to life in England since his move from Almeria.

Although the former of the two strikers could be given the nod by Clotet, Gimenez could be replaced by Jeremie Bela who has illustrated some real signs of promise for Birmingham in recent weeks.

Providing that Bela is able to make a fast start to the club's clash with Reading, he may end up helping his side secure all three points on their travels.
