Nottingham Forest are set for a busy January as Aitor Karanka looks to work with a squad capable of kicking on and delivering promotion.

Whilst for most managers, the January window will be about finding that extra bit of quality to help the side for the run-in, it may be a bit different at the City Ground.

Karanka will certainly be in the market for players but after a major turnover of players in the past two windows, the focus will also be on shifting players out.

That will enable the former Boro boss to work with a smaller squad which will be beneficial over the season.

And, there has already been reports suggesting some senior figures will leave, with Football Insider claiming that skipper Ben Watson could depart.

Here we look at TWO Championship clubs that should move for the 33-year-old if that's the case...

Garry Monk's side have improved significantly over the past six weeks but if they are to sustain this form over a season, they need more depth.

Blues are particularly short in midfield with David Davis out for the long-term.

Therefore, Watson could be an ideal addition. He is experienced, disciplined and should fit in easily to a Birmingham side that would bring the best out of him.

Another side lacking in midfield depth are Millwall.

They have Ryan Leonard and Shaun Williams who are a decent partnership but there's little behind that.

Watson would provide the team with real competition in that role and his qualities would improve the squad.

As well as that, his leadership and experience could be vital if the Lions are in a relegation battle, which could be the case.
