The situation is bleak for Birmingham City towards the foot of the second tier table, with the Blues at serious risk of succumbing to relegation this season.

Removing Harry Redknapp earlier in the season has failed to spark a revival in the West Midlands, with current boss Steve Cotterill struggling to find the right formula at the club having taken over in the wake of the shock sacking of the former Tottenham boss.

A 5-0 midweek drubbing at Brentford, a side who Birmingham had raided in the summer to sign Maxime Colin, Harlee Dean and Jota, provides a perfect summary of the club’s season so far, and Cotterill has a huge task on his hands in the summer to reevaluate his side and remove the deadwood.

Whether the manager will be in a job by then remains to be seen, but this pair will could be on the way out in the coming months...

The former Blackburn Rovers man was picked up by Redknapp on a free transfer in what appeared to be an excellent piece of business having performed well for Rovers despite their relegation from the division, but Lowe has simply failed to make his mark at St Andrew’s.

Just a handful of appearances to his name, a poor display in midweek will not have convinced the manager of his ability, and Lowe could be on his way out before he has even begun to settle at the club.

A solid player in the right side, Lowe could be a job for the Blues if used in the right system, but he doesn’t appear to have a future at the club at this stage of the season.

Blues fans will hate to lose the forward, but Adams is a fantastic young player who should be playing at a higher level.

The 21-year-old has been out for much of the campaign due to a succession of injuries, but should attract attention in the summer whether Birmingham survive the drop or not.

They will lose the player regardless of their status, but stand a much better chance of receiving a significantly higher fee for the player if they remain in the second tier.

Adams is arguably the most talented player on the roster, but it would be a real surprise to see him remain in the West Midlands for any longer.
