It is fair to say that Garry Monk has done an exceptional job in his first season with Leeds United.

The Yorkshire based club are sitting fourth in the table and certainly look capable of winning promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

After a slow start to the campaign, Leeds' fans have watched their team work their way up the table and become strong promotion contenders after some superb results.

Garry Monk and the Leeds supporters can be pleased regardless of what happens for the remainder of the season with the former Swansea City boss restoring some pride, passion and positivity around Elland Road once again.

Every club suffers highs and lows in a season, some more than others, and some can often be regarded as turning points in a season.

Leeds are a club who have enjoyed some tremendous highs but also faced with some lows this season and Football League World writer Harry Webster takes a look at the two biggest highs and the two biggest lows of Leeds' season so far...

High - Pontus Jansson signing

The capture of central defender Pontus Jansson can be labelled as one of the coups of the season in the Championship this year.

Since his arrival on loan from Torino, Jansson has quickly become a fans' favourite with his passionate and impressive displays in the heart of the Leeds defence this season.

Garry Monk's permanent signing of Jansson was a relief for Leeds fans with a number of Premier League clubs monitoring his position and progress at Elland Road.

The permanent signing of Jansson was definitely one of the biggest highs for Leeds' fans this season.

Low - Poor start to the season

Despite now looking like one of the strongest sides in the Championship, Garry Monk's opening few months as manager did not go to plan after winning just one game in his first five league matches as Leeds boss.

At the time there were already critics suggesting Monk was not the man for the job but he has quickly proven them wrong after an excellent season so far.

The situation has turned around, but Leeds' shocking start to the season was definitely one of the biggest lows this season.

High - The arrival of Andrea Radrizzani

In January, Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani purchased a stake of 50 per cent of the club from fellow countryman Massimo Cellino which brought great joy to Leeds supporters.

After a torrid time under the full leadership of Cellino, a period which has seen six managers come and go at Elland Road as well as some awful performances on the pitch, things off the field are finally starting to look much better.

Radrizzani's arrival was perfectly timed with the club finally looking back to its best and Leeds fans will be hoping he can help lead them to glory this season.

Low - Losing to Sutton in the FA Cup

The FA Cup always represents a fantastic opportunity to win some silverware and a chance for supporters to make the trip to Wembley, but Leeds were left red faced in their attempts this season when Non League side Sutton United dumped them out of the competition, beating Garry Monk's side 1-0.

The Non League side went on an unforgettable run before eventually losing to Arsenal in the fifth round but there were no excuses for Leeds not winning that game.

Although their primary focus can be on winning promotion, it has definitely been a big low in Leeds' season.
