Sheffield United look on course to win promotion to the Championship, and at the time of writing were preparing for a crucial game against promotion rivals Bolton.

The Blades though have had a tremendous season, full of highs in the main with the odd low along the way.

Chris Wilder has turned things right around after a miserable few seasons, especially after last season under Nigel Adkins, where the club had seemed to hit a huge low point.

With any season, highs and lows are crucial part, and if the Blades can defeat Bolton, then that may well class as one of the highest points of the season so far. However, for now, there are still plenty of moments to choose from when it comes to the Blades and their season so far.

With this in mind, FLW writer Lee Connor looks at TWO highs and TWO lows of Sheffield United's season so far...

High 1 - Unbeaten run

In the early part of the season, the Blades went on a tremendous unbeaten run where they were 15 games unbeaten in the league.

It started with an away win over Gillingham, which at the time didn't seem too important, however it was the catalyst behind a superb run which saw the Blades climb towards the top two.

Low 1 - Southend at home

The 3-0 home defeat to Southend was very much a shock to the system for United, and it looked like being a case of last season repeated at the time.

It has however turned into being somewhat of a turning point in the season, but at the time, it very much looked like United were set for a season of struggle once more.

High 2 - Coventry away win

In what was a tricky live televised encounter against struggling Coventry, the Blades emerged with three vital points in a horrible game to watch.

A pitch invasion from Sky Blues fans saw the game delayed with only 10 minutes to go, and the players had to retreat from the field and come back out on the referee's advice.

However, it would be United who would prevail, as Billy Sharp smashed in a late winner to snatch all three points for Wilder and his men.

Low 2 - End of January form

The end of January saw United relinquish a bit of their grip on the promotion places, as a 4-1 defeat to Walsall coupled with consecutive dropped points at home to Gillingham and Fleetwood, saw  Blades fans begin to panic.

Things have steadied since then, but it allowed Scunthorpe and Bolton both time to gain ground in second and third respectively.
