Having dropped out of the Premier League almost two years ago, Aston Villa are finally showing signs that a return to the highest level of English football is within their capabilities.

Steve Bruce’s side have been excellent since the turn of the year, and a run of victories was only ended in a difficult to fellow automatic promotion chasers, Fulham.

The club remain firmly in the hunt for a place in the top two however, and manager Bruce will be confident in his side’s ability to complete the job in the coming months and return this historical club to a division it has become accustomed to competing in.

Whatever happens in the summer however, Bruce will know that his squad is in need of a clearout as he prepares for the new season, and this pair should feel that their futures at Villa Park could certainly be at risk…

The former Arsenal youngster has found opportunities extremely limited this season, and will surely not be content in occupying the bench for the large majority of a second consecutive campaign.

Lansbury is a solid second tier player as he proved with Nottingham Forest, but hasn’t really lived up to expectations in what is his first full season in the West Midlands.

Having appeared less than ten times in the league this term, Lansbury will certainly attract interest from other sides, and having failed to break into this team in the Championship, would appear to have no chance if promotion were to be secured.

The summer is likely to see him move on.

Terry has been an absolute revelation since joining the club on a shock one-year deal following his release from Chelsea, but looks increasingly likely to leave the club in the summer to pursue new goals.

At the age of 37 Terry’s career is coming to an end, and the player may feel that a fresh challenge is in order in the final years of his glittering spell at the top of the English game.

A switch abroad for one final pay day could be in the defender’s thoughts, with MLS and Chinese sides certain to queue out of the door for the former England captain’s signature.

There is still a chance Terry may call time on his playing career and pursue a career in coaching, and I simply cannot see the player at Villa Park again next season.
