Sammy Ameobi's time at Newcastle United could be coming to an end this summer, as he becomes just one of the out-of-contract stars that Rafa Benitez could axe at the end of the current Championship campaign.

The long-serving veteran, who has been at the club for over seven years now, has seen game-time hard to come by under Benitez and spent the first half of the season on-loan with League One outfit Bolton Wanderers, where he impressed.

But now back at St James' Park, the £2.55million-rated academy graduate is struggling for starts and doesn't look likely to axe the likes of Matt Ritchie from the starting XI anytime soon.

Which is why we think he should move onto another Championship outfit we think he could really shine at.

The club in question? QPR, who have made some real progress under new manager Ian Holloway.

Despite a recent wobble, former Blackpool boss Holloway has made some real positive changes at Loftus Road during his reign at the club and bringing in a player of Ameobi's experience on a free could turn out to be an inspired piece of transfer business.

We've seen the positive impact the likes of Matt Smith and Luke Freeman have had since making the move to Loftus Road, and Ameobi is another player who should certainly consider rebuilding his career in London.

He's a pacy, skilful customer who certainly has something to offer at this level still.

And on a free transfer, he could make a cracking bit of business.
