Aston Villa are a team that will be under huge pressure when the new Championship season eventually rolls around.

Manager Steve Bruce struggled to pick up the pieces during large parts of last season's campaign after a terribly slow start under former boss Roberto Di Matteo, and it's going to be no easier this time round either.

Despite the likes of Brighton and Newcastle leaving the division having been promoted back to the Premier League, there have been some good sides come down from the top-flight, whilst the additions of Millwall, Sheffield United and Bolton back to the second tier make things no easier for Villa either.

But they've got to concentrate on their own summer and plans for when the season does eventually roll around again in August, and there's certain players already in this squad that we feel need to take a long, hard look at themselves as Villa aim to press for the play-offs.

And there's one man in particular that we think needs to show more than we saw from him last time out, and that's £2.55 million-rated midfielder Henri Lansbury.

The former Nottingham Forest favourite was a huge star down in the East Midlands but after his January move to Villa Park, he's somewhat gone off the boil.

He featured just five times in the league as Villa slumped to a bottom half finish and after paying a decent figure to bring him to the Midlands, Villa fans will have been expecting more from the 26-year-old.

The former Arsenal academy graduate has been highly thought of for years now and he's certainly got the ability at this level to help Villa up the table next time out. But he's a man that has bags of experience too, and a player that can't go missing as much as we saw this season.

He needs to pull up his socks and really start working for his team-mates, manager and most importantly, the supporters.

Villa fans... do you agree? Are you expecting more from Lansbury this summer? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
