Birmingham City have been spiralling down the Championship table at an alarming rate and this summer, it's clear manager Gianfranco Zola needs to bring in some reinforcements if he's to really strengthen this squad moving forward.

Defensively, the Blues have been seriously shoddy at times, which has surprised some supporters considering how solid the team generally was under former manager Gary Rowett.

But it's been quite the opposite under Zola and it's safe to say the Blues can't stop conceding. So with defensive reinforcements more than necessary this summer, there's one man in particular we think Zola should be holding out for a move for.

The man in question? £2.13million-rated Arsenal defender Rob Holding, who is struggling to get first-team minutes at the Emirates this campaign.

After a tough start to his Gunners career in the opening-day defeat to Liverpool, it's clear that Arsene Wenger wants to protect the former Bolton youngster.

But at 21-years-old, these are arguably some of the most important times of his career and he needs to be playing regular games in order to maintain his development. That's exactly why the Gunners should be considering a loan move for Holding this summer, with Birmingham an excellent place for Holding to go in order to play at the next level.

We've seen young Krystian Bielik come in and do a real job at Blues this season and it's clear that time in the first-team at St Andrews has done his career a massive favour.

That's now what the promising Rob Holding needs. A two-time England U21 international, the promise is very real but in order to really fulfil that, he needs time on the pitch.

So in this instance, a loan move certainly seems like it would work out for both parties.
