Luton Town will be looking to break their Championship duck on Saturday when they head to Oakwell to face Barnsley.

The Hatters are yet to win in the second-tier under manager Graeme Jones and currently sit 22nd in the Championship standings.

Despite illustrating some real signs of promise during their opening day draw against Middlesbrough, Luton have since suffered three consecutive league defeats.

In Tuesday's clash with Sheffield Wednesday, a lack of creativity ultimately played a role in the Hatters leaving Hillsborough empty-handed.

With this clearly being a prominent issue for Luton in recent weeks, it may time for the club to turn to Luke Bolton for inspiration.

Signed on a season-long loan from reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on transfer deadline day (via BBC Sport) the 19-year-old has yet to be given the opportunity to fully flex his muscles for his new side.

Whilst he did start in the Hatters' 3-1 victory over Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup first round, Bolton was forced off at half-time due to a calf injury (via Luton Today).

Having since fully recovered from this issue, the winger featured as a substitute for Luton against the Owls.

Although he ultimately failed to provide an equaliser for Jones' side, Bolton was nevertheless impressive during his cameo as he demonstrated an unerring level of composure whilst in possession of the ball as well as an abundance of pace.

Given that he managed to illustrate some encouraging signs in midweek, it could be worth taking a risk on him at the weekend.

However, if Jones does indeed decide to bring Bolton into Luton's starting eleven for the club's clash with Barnsley, it will bring intriguing to see who ends up replacing.

Capable of playing on either wing, the England Under-20 international may force his boss to alter the club's formation from a diamond midfield formation to a more traditional 4-4-2 set-up.

Whereas both Izzy Brown and Kazenga LuaLua are no strangers to operating in wide areas having done so on numerous occasions during their respective careers, the latter of the two may be forced to make way for Bolton.

Although LuaLua impressed during the previous campaign for Luton in the third tier, his performances this season have left a lot to be desired.

With the 28-year-old yet to deliver the goods, it could very well be time to turn to Bolton who unquestionably has all the ingredients needed to make a real statement at Championship level.
