Danny Mills has urged Leeds United to make a move for Teemu Pukki if they do go on to secure promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites are currently top of the Championship after a run of five games without defeat - a stretch which has put them in a strong position to go up this term.

Signing a striker is likely to be a priority for Marcelo Bielsa's side this summer and the Norwich City man has been named as a potential target.

Pukki has exceeded all expectations in his first campaign in the top flight after scoring 11 goals for the struggling Canaries, and according to Mills, he's a player who be an ideal fit for the Whites.

Speaking to Football Insider,Mills said: “Pukki would be the obvious choice.

“It is where does he go and what sort of fee would he command. Does he want to leave Norwich? He is the obvious one.

“He is a goalscorer and he has proven he can do it. A good position and the way that Leeds play…

“But Bielsa is a funny one and a canny one at times. He could bring in somebody completely left-field. He may well use his contacts in South-America or Spain to bring in somebody.

“I think it would be obvious that they would have to bring somebody of quality in the centre-forward position if they get promoted.”

Can you name these ex-Leeds United defenders?

The verdict

Teemu Pukki could certainly be a shrewd addition.

The striker has been a surprise success for Norwich City this term after scoring 11 goals for a side who appear destined to face the drop.

Given his performances it's unlikely that the 29-year-old will be dropping down to the Championship and perhaps a move to Marcelo Bielsa's side could be the ideal switch.

Of course this depends on Leeds getting promoted, however based on their positioning so far it seems probable.
