Barnsley are a team that look like real challengers for promotion from League One, at the first time of asking this campaign.
The Tykes, since relegation from the Championship last term, have flourished under Daniel Stendel’s management, and sit in a very promising 5th position going into December.
They may have lost 4-2 at promotion rivals Sunderland in midweek, but the Yorkshire club are still on a fine run of form, having won three of their last five league games.
Stendel’s men have everything – a solid defence, a perfect blend in midfield, and a goalscoring king up front in Kieffer Moore, who has scored 12 goals for the Tykes this term.
There is bound to be higher interest from Moore in January due to his clinical form in front of goal, and Barnsley need to be thinking of a Plan B if he does leave – and Jayden Stockley is that man.
Stockley has been in fine form for Exeter City over the last couple of years, and would certainly be a very suitable replacement for Moore.
The 25-year old finished as one of League Two’s top goalscorers last term with 25 goals in 48 appearances to his name, and has continued that magnificent run of form over to this season, with 11 goals in 22 games this term.
At 6-foot-3, he offers the same physical prowess and aerial threat as Moore does, and if the worst were to happen, then Barnsley should definitely be targeting Stockley…
