Leeds United are just a handful of games away from having a real shot at the Championship play-offs and for manager Garry Monk, it’s been a really successful campaign in his first season in-charge at Elland Road.
The Whites have found some real consistency this season and you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone that doesn’t agree that the Whites don’t deserve to be up there come the end of the season.
It’s been a long old campaign but with the defence staying strong and player-of-the-season-nominated Chris Wood banging in the goals for fun, it’s been a season to remember down at Elland Road.
But looking ahead, there’s plenty of work to be done in the summer transfer window and Monk has some very big decisions to make on some senior members in this squad.
And one debate that has been ticking along all season is whether or not left-back Charlie Taylor has a future at the club.
He’s been linked with a move away all season and if he does move on this summer, Monk will have to bring in a worthwhile replacement for him, albeit whether they’re in the Championship or the Premier League.
And we think there is one man that could really fit the bill down at Elland Road- Crystal Palace full-back Zeki Fryers.
The £1.7million-rated former Manchester United man has struggled for first-team minutes this season, making just 12 appearances in all competitions.
That might have been lessened even more had Pape Souare not been ruled out for the entire campaign through injury.
But as we’ve seen during his time with the likes of Spurs and during loan moves at Rotherham and Ipswich, the 24-year-old is a cracking player and is very much the modern-day left-back that would fit this Leeds United team.
Pacy, hard-working and a man who has a real eagerness to get forward, Fryers is wasted simply sat on the bench week-in, week-out.
A move to Elland Road could really bring his career back to where it should be and it’s a move that would suit both Palace and Leeds too.
