Making the travelling squad for Chelsea’s historic Champions League victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena is a fantastic achievement for any player, let alone an 18-year-old academy player with no first-team exposure.

Yet Chelsea starlet Todd Kane achieved the miraculous feat due to an excellent run of form in the club’s youth set ups, and although he failed to make the matchday squad, the experience was one the right-back will never forget.

Five loan spells after this date and still no first team appearance to his name is not the scenario the youngster may have wished for, but Kane is a talented defender who will make his name in the game.

A first-team berth at Stamford Bridge seems out of reach once again, and after spending the previous campaign on loan in Holland with NEC Nijmegen, a move to the Championship seems the next logical step for 23-year-old Kane.

Hull City will be back in the division after a year in the Premier League, and with Roman Abramovich favourite Leonid Slutsky in charge, a wave of Chelsea players look set to spend time on the Humber next season.

Ahmed Elmohamady occupied the right-back role at the KCOM last season, but with Hull losing loanee Lazar Markovic, the Egyptian may be deployed further forward in the Championship.

Kane (valued at £1.28m on Transfermarkt) could be the man to fill the vacant role, and the extremely quick, tough tackling full-back would be an excellent addition to a Hull City side with promotion ambitions.
