As a gesture of goodwill, Nottingham Forest decided to help out local rivals Notts County before their pre-season friendly with Real Sociedad on Friday afternoon, collecting money to give to the unpaid staff at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies looked to be a club in dire straits only a matter of days ago, with the National League side facing another winding-up petition due to unpaid tax bills, and staff and players not being paid their June salaries.

But the Nottinghamshire outfit have been given a new lease of life, with Danish brothers Alexander and Christoffer Reedtz purchasing the club and taking over from under-fire owner Alan Hardy.

The pairs have since lifted the club's transfer embargo whilst also paying staff and players their wages for the last two months, meaning that the money collected by Forest would be no longer of use to the Magpies.

Now, both Forest and County, who sit half a mile between each other on the River Trent, have decided to give the collected money to charity, as both sides hope for positive seasons in their respective divisions.

Forest's gesture of goodwill will not be forgotten by County fans, though, and the money will still go a long way in helping charities in need.

Here, we take a look at Forest fans' reactions to this latest update...
