According to reports from The Sun, Derby County are interested in signing Chelsea youngster Tariq Uwakwe on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old is highly regarded at Stamford Bridge, and is tipped to join the likes of Reece James, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham in the first-team setup next season.

The midfielder - who signed a new three-year deal with the Blues last season - has been a regular for Chelsea's under-23 side this term, helping them climb to the top of the Premier League 2 table.

But in order to aid his development even further, Uwakwe could be set to depart Stamford Bridge on loan this month - and Frank Lampard could also be set to help out his former club.

It is claimed that Derby are interested in taking Uwakwe on loan until the end of the campaign, as Phillip Cocu prepares to bolster his squad with fresh faces ahead of the second-half of the season.
