Bolton Wanderers have announced that Thibaud Verlinden has departed the club, returning to Stoke City after the Sky Bet Championship side cut his loan spell in Lancashire short.

It has been a season for turmoil for the Trotters so far, with Keith Hill’s side starting in League One on minus 12 points.

And, they still sit bottom of the third-tier with only seven points to their name having lost 4-3 to Burton Albion yesterday.

In wake of that defeat, they’ve now lost Verlinden, who has returned to Stoke with immediate effect after a promising spell that brought three goals and two assists in 15 League One appearances.

Discussing his departure with the club, the 20-year-old said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Bolton Wanderers, and I wish the club all the best for the future.

“Not only have I become a better player during my time with the club, but I’ve also become a better person.”

As expected, with such a popular player departing, there was a strong reaction from the club’s fanbase, who, on the whole, were disappointed.

Here is a look at some reaction…
